Cosine's Commitment to Sustainability: Our Clients and the Planet

At Cosine, we take pride in our sustainability journey, which began in 2016. Our commitment to environmental responsibility aligns perfectly with our dedication to providing excellent service to our clients.

With a sustainability ambition to become Carbon Neutral by 2025 and offset our emissions, Cosine focuses on three key areas: reducing waste production, decreasing business miles driven, and lowering energy consumption.

Our unique Cosine Connected approach greatly enhances this ambition by seamlessly integrating physical and digital elements. This integration allows us to create sales-driving solutions that are tailored to our client's specific needs. By effectively combining these two approaches, we can optimise resource allocation and enhance business efficiency, resulting in the best possible outcomes. These outcomes have a positive impact on our clients' crucial CO2 agendas.

The latest assessment results reveal a 5.3% reduction in overall location-based emissions compared to the previous year. We are excited to share how our actions and initiatives benefit not only our clients but also the planet we call home.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint, Step by Step

We understand the importance of reducing our carbon emissions and the impact they have on the environment. Our field agents travel around 1.5 million business miles each year to serve clients across the UK which represents 88% of our CO2 emissions, and we are continually seeking out ways to minimise our carbon footprint.

One of the ways we achieve this is by gradually transitioning our company fleet from diesel to mild petrol hybrids. We are realistic in acknowledging that electric vehicles will not be feasible for everyone by 2025, primarily due to the current lack of infrastructure. Additionally, it is important for the role and our clients to ensure that the adoption of electric vehicles is appropriate. This not only contributes to cleaner air quality, particularly in urban areas but also supports the health and well-being of our field agents as they travel across the country.

Like most businesses, we strongly advocate for the use of video conferencing as a means of reducing carbon emissions, saving time, and minimizing the need for unnecessary business travel. This practice, adopted during lockdown, looks set to stay and has proven to be an effective way to conduct meetings and collaborations.

Eco-Friendly Practices at Our Head Office

We take pride in being at the forefront of promoting sustainable practices. By implementing eco-friendly measures at our head office, we not only reduce our carbon footprint but also inspire energy efficiency throughout the workplace.

Within our office kitchen, we have made a smart switch from traditional kettles to modern hot water cisterns. This small yet significant change not only helps us reduce our electricity consumption but also demonstrates our commitment to embracing sustainable practices.

Additionally, we have made a significant investment in our office car park by installing electrical charging points, actively reducing barriers for employees to choose EVs as a viable option when upgrading or replacing their own vehicles.

We also are excited about our solar energy initiatives at our office in Thame. By implementing solar panels, we are embracing clean and renewable energy sources to fuel our operations. This strategic move will not only help us reduce costs but also avoid the emission of a staggering sixty-nine tons of CO2 annually. This significant impact is equivalent to planting 13,053 trees or driving two million kilometres by car.

Joining Forces for a Greener Future

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and understand that certain emissions are unavoidable. That's why we have partnered with a third-party company to assess our annual CO2 emissions.

But we don't stop there! We have taken it a step further by establishing valuable partnerships with trusted third-party allies. Together, we invest in projects that have a significant impact on offsetting our emissions. Our initiatives include supporting wind farms and methane capture projects in Asia, which make a tangible difference towards a greener future.
